According to the Organising Board for ABG5, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) decided to choose only Da Nang, instead of the 3 localities comprised of Da Nang and the provinces of Khanh Hoa and Binh Thuan as previously scheduled, to reduce the costs for Viet Nam – the organiser, and facilitate the travel of participating countries.
Mr Vuong Bich Thang, Head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training said that, ABG5 will take place on the beach area with a length of 5,000m stretching from Son Tra District’s Man Thai Ward to Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward. It is anticipated that about 10,000 participants, including nearly 4,600 athletes and coaches from 45 countries and territories, along with representatives from the OCA, the national Olympic committees in the participating countries, and other international sports organisations will participate in the sporting event.
